The importance of installation Liquefied natural gas to Chickpea for the introduction of loads from the USA and their channeling to the Greek and regional market of SE Europe underline sources DESFA on the occasion of yesterday’s visit by US Interior Minister and Head of the US Energy Sovereignty, Mr. Doug Burgum in Revithoussa.
As they say, the choice of DESFA’s LNG Revithousa Terminal confirms the timeless strategic value of the installation and its key role in ensuring Europe’s energy differentiation and add:
Revithousa has now been established as a gateway to the entrance and starting point of the vertical gas corridor, extending from Greece to Ukraine, with DESFA investing in important projects to enhance this strategy and export capacity of the country to the north (reaching 8.5 billion).
The installation is a foundation for the EU-UPA energy cooperation, highlighting how transatlantic cooperation is implemented through strategic infrastructure that enhances Europe’s energy security and reduce its dependence on Torosal Gas. From the first LNG load from the United States in 2018, nearly 150 US missions LNG – delivering more than 92 TWH TWH – have reached Revithousa.
Today, the United States covers about 80% of Greece’s LNG imports and represent more than one -third (35%) of all gas entering the country, increasing a 10% increase in their share of total LNG imports.
Until 31/8, Revithousa welcomed 30 tankers with US LNG, totaling 17.56 TWH, compared to 11 tankers and 8.02 TWH during the same period last year.
