In recent years, artificial intelligence (AI) has penetrated every aspect of our daily lives, from simple internet searches to sophisticated applications in areas such as medicine, automotive and entertainment. This rapid rise of AI could not leave the art unaffected. From algorithms that create paintings to paintings, to music -composing applications, the interaction of artificial intelligence with the creative process is constantly causing new discussions on the boundaries of artistic expression and the role of technology in shaping art. One of the most innovative initiatives presented this year 27the The Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival was “Ai and Art Experience Powered by Telekom”, which aimed to explore the relationship between AI and Art.

Thus, Cosmote TV, a great sponsor of the festival, presented the innovative art installation “Lauren: Anyone Home?” of the American artist and professor at UCLA, Lauren Lee McCarthy, while also organizing the Masterclass “The Effect of Artificial Intelligence on Art” with speakers leading artists and scientists.

Installation was an innovative art experiment that focused on investigating the role of AI in human relations. In the work “Lauren”, the artist, as another Alexa, watches and controls the home of visitors to the visual facility. The experience begins with the installation of smart devices, such as cameras, microphones, locks, taps and home appliances, that turn the space into a fully connected smart home. Unlike the usual smart home technologies, Lauren acts as an anthropocentric digital assistant, balancing between intimacy and privacy, ease and autonomy, while highlighting the role of human work in an increasingly automated world.
By interactive character, the art installation It offered the public the opportunity to interact with artificial intelligence and to consider its influence on everyday life. The work, awarded the “Human Ai Art Award”, a joint initiative of Telekom and the Bonn Museum of Modern Art, was presented by Lauren Lee McCarthy herself online during his inauguration, offering valuable information on arrest and implementation.
The effect of artificial intelligence on art
The discussion about the relationship between artificial intelligence and art culminated on March 9, when the Masterclass entitled “The Effect of Artificial Intelligence on Art” took place. Companions in this dialogue were Lauren Lee McCarthy, actress Stefania Gouliotis, artist and director George Drivas and musician Kostis Maravejia. The discussion was co -ordinated by the founder and president of the Institute of Philosophy and Technology, Yiannis Stamatellos. Participants have developed different approaches to how artificial intelligence can be a tool, but also a challenge for artists and artistic creation.
