After the barrage of reactions from both the local communities and a number of ND MPs, the government announces a change in the store management plan, which will be announced by the company’s management.
As protothema.gr is able to know, at the beginning of October a broad meeting was held with government officials, the management of ELTA and the Superfund and the need for a timely announcement and explanation of the plan was highlighted.
Now, government officials blame the management of ELTA and the Superfund for insufficient information of local communities and public opinion, although they insist on the necessity of the restructuring plan.
Government officials said that during the last meetings, the need for better information of local communities and public opinion regarding the required restructuring plan of the Hellenic Post Office was pointed out to the administrations of ELTA and the Superfund.
The plan includes modernizing the company by strengthening digital media, increasing the number of distributors and offering home services, with a particular focus on serving retirees and regional residents, especially in remote and island areas.
The consolidation of ELTA is deemed necessary for the viability of the company, and the government recognizes the serious financial problem they are facing, despite the actions and interventions that have already been made. At the same time, the success of the modernization depends on ELTA’s cooperation with the local communities, which are also their main customer base.
In this context, the management of ELTA is expected to make announcements today on how to implement the plan to modernize the Hellenic Post Office.
