The new energy crisis scenario is removed – remains the structural problem in electricity

Significant breath gave consumers the ceasefire in the Middle East and the decline in prices oil and gas in recent days. However, the structural theme remains in currentas we enter July in a few days.

More specifically, oil lost $ 10/barrel returning to previous levels below $ 70. Similarly, gas declined from 41 to 34 – 35 euros/MWh, which directly affects electricity prices.

Thus, the European governments have been relieved because a new energy crisis was avoided. However, in SE Europe, problems remain in terms of electricity. The area is quite isolated from the rest of Epirus due to lack of links and from last year a few have changed to prevent new prices in the coming months.

In Greece, there has been a rise in demand for electricity in recent days and wholesale prices. Indicatively, Megawattore was reinforced from 92 to 113 euros this week, while demand reached 222 giants as temperatures in the country rose.

The RIS has said a few days ago that it is moving better coordinated with other countries and estimates that this summer there will be a better maintenance program of ubiquitous production units in SE Europe. Together with the optimal utilization of existing links, these movements constitute a first step in smoothing the situation.

At the retail level, the ministry is satisfied with consumers’ shift to blue and yellow invoices and away from the green, which the government initially advertised as more advantageous.

From this autumn, consumers will also have the choice of orange or dynamic invoice, as the relevant regulatory framework will be completed. Thus, those who have a smart meter installed will be able to consume specific times of the day to save money.

As Deputy Minister Nikos Tsafos said in this regard, RIS has already made sure to “train” consumers in this new logic through the change he made during the two -zone invoice.

However, not all is rosy in the retail field, as the RIS is seeing a lack of competition and has not ruled out interventions as long as new invoices do not help and the situation perpetuates.
