The House approved by a large majority the concession contract for the North Road Crete (BOAK), in Chania – Heraklion. The project, with a total length of 157 km, includes design, construction, operation and maintenance, and an additional Kissamos – Chania section is foreseen, which will start as soon as the environmental conditions are approved.
By a wide majority The concession contract concerning the implementation of the project for the North Road Crete (BOAK) was approved today (29/5) by the House of Representatives Thursday (29/5).in the piece Chania-Heraklion, total area of 157 kilometers. The agreement includes the design, construction, funding, operation, maintenance and exploitation of the project.
In the framework of the project there is also an additional section “Option” from Kissamos to Chania (about 30 km), the implementation of which will begin as soon as the necessary environmental conditions are issued.
The ratification of the contract was backed by the New Democracy and PASOK, securing a wide parliamentary majority. On the contrary, SYRIZA, the KKE, the Greek Solution, the New Left and the Freedom Sun. Niki and the Spartans declared “present”.
The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Christos Dimas, pointed out in his speech that BOAK is the central road of Crete, enhancing road safety and being a strategic project for the island’s development course – at the level of tourism, economy and society.
