The Netherlands: “The Road Open” for early parliamentary elections after the collapse of the government

Inevitable are the early Members election to Netherlandsafter the collapse of the government, as the outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoff said today (04.06.2025).

The political landscape is boiling in the Netherlands, as disagreements between former government partners over the immigration resulted in the dissolution of the government alliance and “paving the way” for early parliamentary elections.

Dick Schoff stressed that there was widespread support in Parliament for early elections and added that his government government would soon set a date.

Parliamentary elections are not likely to be held before October 2025.

Usually because of the fragmented political landscape of the Netherlands, The formation of a new government takes many months.

The head of the Dutch far -right, Geert Wilders, threw the government coalition yesterday (03.06.2025)withdrawing the PVV party because of his disagreements over immigration policy.

The far -right leader estimated that the coalition government under Prime Minister Dick Dick was very delayed to implement the “strictest immigration policy” ever in the Netherlands, which was promoted by PVV after his 2023 parliamentary elections.

Ministers from PVV will leave the government, which will continue its work as a service.

Yesterday, the Schoff announced that he resigned and described Wilders’ decision “irresponsible”stressing that he will remain as a Prime Minister until the formation of a new government.
