The protagonists: a wealthy family
Michalis Chrysafidis was a 43 -year -old wealthy businessman, founder of the company “Chrysafidis SA” With activity in Greece, the Balkans and Africa. It had a total of six companies with a turnover of over 600 million drachmas a year.
Married to British Elizabeth Widebank, they lived comfortably in their villa on Theseus Street in Ekali with their two sons: 18 -year -old George, recently graduated from high school and ready to study abroad, and 16 -year -old Alexander.
Until 1991, a Thai Butler, 28 -year -old Thosert “Tai” Seloasana, who lived with his wife and close relatives in Greece and was considered a household member, worked in the family. Those who knew him described him as a calm, smiling new one.

June 17, 1991, evening: The family was a friendly dinner with neighbor Angeliki Papalexandratou. The wives discussed an upcoming party of the guest’s daughter. Papalexandratou left around midnight – was the last person who saw their alive Chrysafides

June 18, morning: Michalis Chrysafidis did not go In his work (industrial factory), something unprecedented for an owner always consistent. Concern in his work. His associates phoned the house, where Butler Prachert replied. He assured them that “the family was missing for ten days and would return on June 28.” Then came the villa gardener, Kyriakos Kiliaris, with his own key: he entered the courtyard, but his “tai” again said – that the Chrysafides were missing. All this mysterious absence left relatives and associates with the impression that it was probably a serious unforeseen event.

June 19, morning: At 08:00 am The alarm at home is activated (it was not clarified if a wrong or mechanical error was made). A patrol is in a hurry, however, “Tai” says the leak of the system was a wrong alarm. On the same day, Thsart’s wife, Wazita, visited her mother -in -law Kanya at her home, claiming that “her father was seriously ill” and had to travel to Thailand immediately. Kennya and Wazita closed a total of four airline tickets: first for Prasrt and Wazita, and then for the mother and aunt of Prasrt, with the departure of 21 June 1991

June 20–22: The gardener returns to the villa but still found her permission, with cars parked and the dog’s bowl full of food that was left untouched. There were many questions that no one opened the houses when there was usually someone inside the alarm had hit again without giving a clear answer.

June 21, 17:40: “Tai” Sartasana, along with his wife, mother and aunt, board the Thai Airways flight to Bangkok. Prior to his departure, Thsert had stuck at the entrance of the house a note written in Greek: “The Chrysafidis family is missing for a vacation and will return on June 28.” Similarly, Chrysafidis’ nephew told police that he found the central door locked at home and an English -speaking note signed “Alice” (the nickname of Wazita) with similar content. No one had no doubt that Thsart and his relatives had dramatically left to Thailand, leaving untold violence behind them.
The horrible revelation
Finally, the horror was revealed in her afternoon June 24, 1991: Chrysafidis’ nephew Alexandros Makridis, along with neighbors and family associate, fled to the villa after days of unnecessary absence of Chrysafidides. They called locks to open the central door. Going down to the basement, they saw a scene unexpected horror: In three separate rooms the corpses of the four family members were found, all covered with blankets or towels and with obvious signs of wild torture.

In the first room, 16 -year -old Alexander was found, with his mouth closed from shirt, hands and feet tied with plastic rope. His body was ruthlessly struck – his sternum was broken and his skull had been crushed by a heavy.

In the nearby room, 18 -year -old George was located, also a towel and tied. He had received heavy blows and was covered with a blanket. Near him was the corpse of the father, 48 -year -old Michael, beaten but not tied up

In the third room, alone, was 43 -year -old Elizabeth (Liz). She was not tied, wearing a formal dress but he was not wearing underwear – An element that led the police to conclude that it was probably raped before it was murdered. The wonderful world of the wealthy family had become a nightmare.
At the points the crime weapons: A heavyweight, a ax and a skeptic – all dirty with the blood of the victims. Thick blood smell smelled of the basement, which the perpetrators had tried in vain to clean. It should be noted that the slaughterers had sprinkled the blankets and towels with perfume – Maybe in an attempt to cover the odor of disintegration. The safe at home was originally found locked: When the police opened it, they found in gold, jewelry and bonds, but They did not find money. Forensic findings also revealed the time sequence of brutal murders: the children were first sacrificed – murdered on June 20, with a brutal torture, while their parents were forced to watch their nightmare. The suspect butler and the escape
Security quickly focused suspicions of Thosert “Tai” Sartasana. The 28 -year -old Thai has been serving in the family since 1989 and lived in their home. But the elements of the evidence showed him as a key suspect: on the one hand the fact that he disappeared shortly after the crime, on the other the false explanations he gave to those who searched him.
– False items before departure: To those who asked after June 18, Tai continued the same answer: that the family would return from a trip on June 28. To the wife of the Pouliazi serving family, in fact, Wazita Seloassana called Ekali and said that her father “died seriously sick” and had to return to Thailand on the spot. However, Thosert’s relatives later found that the alleged “sick father” was in his health.
– The trip to Thailand: At 17:40 on June 21, 1991, Thsart, his wife, mother and aunt boarded a flight to Bangkok. Thsert himself wrote a Greek -speaking note at the door of the house that they are “missing for vacations”, while his father’s nephew a letter Greek -speaking “Alis” (the Greek nickname of his wife). With this note (an indication of absence), no one believed that the Chrysafides were really absent.
– The reasons and the motivation: Authorities immediately turned to Thsart as a perpetrator because of the key he had, the confidence they showed him, and his immediate escape.
