The DAX index to stock exchange of Germany recedes by 1.72% since the Friedrich Mertz It failed to gather the necessary parliamentary majority to become Chancellor in a shock vote in the first round.
The result marks an unpredictable setback for Friedrich Mertz, who was widely expected to secure the necessary votes and be officially sworn later today (6.5.2025). The rest of the indicators in Europe’s stock markets are also negative.
The Pan -European Stoxx 600 index declines 0.62%. The FTSE 100 on the London Stock Exchange is negatively at -0.11%, DAX in Frankfurt falls by 1.37%as does the French CAC 40 by 0.62%, the FTSE MIB in Milan at -0.40%and with it the Spanish Ibex 35 at +0.23%.
