The first wave of autumn bad weather comes: Emergency Bulletin from the NMS – heavy rains, thunderstorms and hailstorms

The first wave of Autumn is approaching the countrywith meteorologists warning of very intense phenomena and the authorities are on an increased alert.

OR National Meteorological Service (NMS) issued an extraordinary worsening card while the National Observatory of Athens / meteo.gr posted maps with estimated rainfall, warning of rain episode Class 3.

The characteristics of bad weather

  • By the Saturday 27/9 In the afternoon of rains and strong thunderstorms will initially occur in Ionian and southern Peloponnese.

  • The phenomena will extend the night to Western solids and rest of the Peloponnese.

  • Particularly strong in areas: Kefalonia, Zakynthos, Ithaca, Lefkada, Aitoloakarnania, Achaia, Ilia, Messinia.

  • By Sunday 28/9 Storms will move east, affecting locally the centrally and northern continents.

OR General Secretariat for Civil Protection recommend:

  • Avoiding movement of streams and flooded roads.

  • Insurance of objects that can be seduced by the wind.

  • Attention to outdoor work and marine activities.

  • Immediate search for shelter in case of hailstorm or thunderbolt.
