The EU is considering duties on Boeing aircraft

Duties to Boeing The EU will propose if negotiations with the US do not succeed in degrading commercial tensions, according to a Bloomberg report.

Boeing duties will be part of an EU plan to hit with additional duties of about 100 billion euros ($ 114 billion) on US products. This product list will be communicated to the Member States this week.

The European Commission has met with US officials since President Donald Trump announced 20% duties last month, which declined to 10% by July, to almost all EU exports. It also imposed a 25% contribution on cars and metals.

Negotiations between the EU and the US have made little progress and the expectation is that most of the US duties will remain in force. The EU said yesterday (6.5.2025) that Trump’s ongoing commercial surveys would increase the amount of EU products facing duties to 549 billion euros, or 97% of the total.

The committee is expected to share a document with the US this week to try to start negotiations with Washington, Bloomberg said earlier. EU proposals are expected to include a reduction in commercial and non -tariff barriers and boosting investment in the US.

Airbus SE chief executive Guillaume Faury earlier this week argued that the EU should impose duties on Boeing if the negotiations fail to abolish the duties affecting the aerospace industry. The American manufacturer is an important exporter in Europe and could feel most of the duties imposed on American planes.
