The EU approved 65m euros to upgrade waste management facilities in the Peloponnese

Funding of 65m euros was approved by EU To upgrade management facilities waste in the region of the Peloponnese.

As stated in the EU’s announcement, three integrated waste management centers, built in the prefectures of Arcadia, Messinia and Laconia, will recover recyclable materials using mechanical treatment and will produce compost with waste treatment.

In addition, two waste transfer stations built in Argolida and Corinth will support the operation of integrated waste management centers.

The executive vice -president of cohesion and reforms, Rafael Filo, said: “Modern waste management saves resources and reduces both greenhouse gas emissions and the risks to population health. I am glad that cohesion policy will support the upgrading of waste management facilities in the Peloponnese Region, as this will improve the lives of its citizens in various specific ways. “

The upgraded waste management facilities will help reduce the risks of health, environmental protection and achieve the recycling and landfill goals of the Peloponnese Region, linked to the processing of urban waste with the rules and correct practices of the EU.
