The EIB approved 4 investment proposals by the Ministry of Environment and Energy of EUR 208 million

Approved today (19.3.2025) by the European Investment Bank (EIB) Four investment proposals of RIS€ 208 million, which were described as “priority investments”.

According to the announcement, two EIB proposals for electric buses and hydrogen buses were approved by the EIB, a proposal for heat pumps in greenhouses, as well as a proposal for heat pumps in municipal swimming pools. The total amount of investment will be covered by Modernization Fund resources.

New Electric Buses and Hydrogen Buses will help upgrade the public transport fleetreplacing 150 old polluting buses and essentially improving the daily lives of citizens. In addition, heat pump proposals relate to aid schemes that will be implemented through invitations to interested parties and enhance the production process of the primary sector.

The final decision to disburse the relevant funds will take place April 1st at the Sixthous Synod of the Modernization Fund, by voting to be held among all countries participating in the Fund.

It is noted that the Modernization Fund is a program of the European Union To support 13 Member States (Greece, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia). In that European Fund, Greece represented by the Ministry of Environment and Energy. Our country’s energy actions are expected to be reinforced through the Fund with about 1.3-1.5 billion euros by 2030.
