His thanks for her solidarity Cyprus The president of the Palestinian Authority expressed Mahmoud Abbas in Nikos Christodoulideswho, for his part, informed him about the efforts made by Cyprus to send help to the civilian population Gauze through Cyprus.
The Cypriot Deputy Government Spokesman, Yiannis Antoniou, in a statement after the Abbas -Christodoulides meeting states that the Palestinian leader referred to the links that associate the two countries and their peoples, while expressing thanks for the solidarity of Cyprus.
President Abbas, Mr Antoniou said, “informed President Christodoulides about the prevailing situation and stressed the need for a truce and the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from Gaza.”
The Cypriot President reiterated the stable position of the Republic of Cyprus to resolve the Palestinian at the base of two states and thanked him for the attitude of Palestine on the Cyprus issue.
He also briefed President Abbas about Cyprus’s efforts to send aid to the civilian population of Gaza via Cyprus, a matter which he discussed earlier with Israel’s political leadership.
President Christodoulides expressed the readiness to inform his European counterparts of the positions of Palestine and to convey the picture of the prevailing situation. He also referred to the role that the Republic of Cyprus can play in the exercise of the EU Council’s presidency in the first half of 2026.
