Thailand: found corpse of woman in the sea – was tied to the neck with two dumbbells

The macabre finding was found on August 8 near the Ban Ta Pier in Thailand, when residents found part of the body floating and alerted the police.

The woman, whose identity, management and nationality remain unknown, was wearing gray shorts and brown blouse. Police estimate that it was dead about two days before it was found.

The authorities found heavy chain wrapped tightly around her neckfastened with two concrete dumbbells – a method that, according to the researchers, aimed to keep the body in the bottom and hide it. Nevertheless, the corpse was slaughtered and dragged near the coast.

Possible murder

The corpse was transferred for a forensic examination to determine the exact cause of death and if the victim was alive when she was in the water.

Police are facing the case as a possible murder because of the way in which the body was attempted. Data has been requested for any missing persons matching the woman’s description, and footage of security cameras are being examined on the pier and area around the spot.

“This is a serious case and we are investigating it as a possible homicide,” said police officer Pigwitt Chaisngiut, calling on anyone who has information – especially for suspicious moves on the Ban Tha Yai pier – to contact police immediately.
