Trump’s latest executive decree that increases tariffs on Chinese imports also increases a separate American duty on low -value packages imported from China – for the third time in eight days – thus affecting online giants Ago and Shein.
Until this year, the so -called De Minimis tariff discharge has provided online retailers Shein and Temu based in China a significant advantage over many of their competitors, CNBC reports.
From May 2, packages sent from China to the US and their value does not exceed $ 800 will face a 120%duty rate, according to the decision.
This is an increase of 30 percentage points compared to a previous executive act signed on Tuesday, which tripled the De Minimis duties to 90%.
The decree signed on Wednesday also increases the cost of “by postal” for these low -value missions to $ 100 from May $ 2, which is increased to $ 200 on June 1st.
The decree allows carriers delivering the missions to choose whether to pay the percentage or flat rate – but are committed to this option and can only change it once a month.
