Tasoulas for Cyprus: We will not forget our debt to continue efforts to end Turkish occupation

“Megalonissos continues to remain divisive and experience the consequences of Turkey’s barbaric attack”

On the occasion of today’s sad anniversary of 51 years after the Turkish invasion of Cyprusthe President of the Republic Konstantinos Tasoulas stated:

“Fifty -one years after the illegal invasion of the Turkish army into Cyprus, in violation of the map of the United Nations and International Law, Megalonissos remains divided and experienced the consequences of this barbaric attack by Turkey: Missing, displaced, trapped, illegal settlement and destruction of the Greek and Orthodox cultural heritage.

We pay tribute to the Greeks and Cypriots who fought and sacrificed in 1974 to defend the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Republic of Cyprus, with the promise that we will never forget their sacrifice.

As we will not forget the debt of our country to continue and strengthen efforts with the aim of ending the Turkish occupation and finding a fair and sustainable solution to the Cyprus issue on the basis of United Nations Security Council resolutions and the implementation of the European acquis.
