Made targeted contacts and presentations the Municipality of Syros-Ermoupolis at the international tourism exhibition World Travel Market (WTM) 2025 in London, with the aim of informing journalists, bloggers, tourist agencies and representatives of institutions about the island’s multidimensional tourism product. The exhibition took place between November 4-7 in London, with the Municipality to participate in the booth of the South Aegean Region, inside the exhibition space of the Hellenic Tourism Organization (HTO). The participation of the Municipality was concluded with particular success and a number of scheduled meetings, highlighting Syros as one of the most up-and-coming and quality destinations of the Aegean.
The natural beauty of the island, cultural uniqueness, alternative activities, picturesque villages and gastronomy attracted the interest of visitors and tourism professionals, confirming the destination’s dynamism. Significant was the universal interest in new destinations less saturated with tourism, which Syros highlighted as an advantage. The Municipality was represented by the Deputy Mayor for Tourism Ioannis A. Voutsinos, with the presence of businessman and member of the Tourism Committee Ioannis Voutsinos (Zanaki).
Among the important contacts include meetings with international media journalists such as The Sun, The Times, The Mirror, and National Geographic, as well as themed tourism bloggers and travel agencies from Great Britain, America, Italy, Australia, India and Eastern Europe. In addition, contacts were made with airline representatives, such as Aegean Airlines and Sky Express, with the aim of finding connecting flights to new destinations in Europe.
The Deputy Mayor of Tourism Ioannis A. Voutsinos met with the director of the EOT Office of Great Britain, Eleni Skarvelis and discussed the possibilities of cooperation between the municipality and the Organization in the British market in view of the new tourist season. “We are joining forces and improving the rationale of exhibition participations in order to maximize the benefits for the destination and the professionals of Syros. Preparations have been made for the selection of contacts, while the details of the participants will be made available to the municipality and the Tourism Committee, to initiate communication to send additional information and the investigation of journalistic trips and partnerships”, said Deputy Mayor of Tourism Ioannis A. Voutsinos.
The participation of the Municipality of Syros-Hermoupolis in WTM is not just a promotion, but a strategic tool for extroversion and development. Through targeted collaborations, professional preparation and utilizing the contacts created, Syros can strengthen its position as a model destination that combines culture, quality and authenticity in the Aegean.
