Critical intervention from SYRIZA – MS sources that make it clear that MEP’s statements, Nikola Farantouris, do not express the party’s position on the OPEKEPE scandal. According to party sources, SYRIZA’s position is clear and has already been formulated by the party’s president, Socrates Famello, as well as by the Bureau of the Parliamentary Group (KO).
SYRIZA’s official position on the OPECEPE issue is to set up a preliminary committee, the resignation of the government and the immediate call for elections. Mr Farantouris’ proposal to set up a special purpose government is rejected as it does not in line with the official line of the party.
“Any other proposal does not express SYRIZA – a progressive alliance,” the same sources note, noting that SYRIZA remains committed to the line it has drawn to address the scandal and the political crisis.
