Harsh criticism of OPEKEPE
“The majority of the Investigative Committee, denying the request for cross-examination of witnesses, is denying the law and the truth” emphasize its sources SYRIZA and they note: “According to the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament and the Code of Criminal Procedure, the Investigative Committee has all the powers of a pre-investigative Authority and can decide on the cross-examination of witnesses. However, as ND “sources” admit, “a cross-examination of specific witnesses is not an appropriate means”.
“Indeed, it is not a suitable means for the search for the truth that the ND wants to hide, as it sees the backstabbing of its ministers and the “blue” executives of OPEKEPE. Arguing that cross-examination would only be appropriate for a Pre-Inquiry Committee (which the government majority rejected in a coup d’état), the ND reveals that it has decided from the outset that this Inquiry will turn into a “bad moment” of burying the truth about yet another scandal of the Mitsotakis government,” the SYRIZA sources conclude.
