The president of SYRIZA-PS, Socratespresented to Symi the main axes of the party’s proposal for island politics, dedicated to the memory of Nektarios Santorini. As he pointed out, the proposal aims to prevent the destruction of the islands’ unique physiognomy due to over -tourism and over -consumption.
- Reduced VAT reset: The Party proposes the immediate restoration of the regime of reduced VAT on the islands, as it considers the law of unfair and memorable origin.
- Transport equivalent: Calls for the reinstatement of normal payments, the expansion of fuel subsidy to all islands, immediate performance to businesses and expanding the measure to students and civil servants.
- Health equivalent: It is proposed to implement a corresponding measure with emphasis on prevention, telemedicine, EKAB strengthening and providing incentives to attract health care.
- Housing: Special public housing policy is proposed for civil servants in cooperation with Local Government, as well as housing for permanent residents with special incentives.
- Energy: SYRIZA-PS proposes energy autonomy of the islands through energy communities, utilizing energy storage and interconnection with the mainland.
Environment, self -government and ferry
The SYRIZA-PS proposal also includes measures to protect the environment and upgrade infrastructure.
- Trash: Zero waste plans are proposed with infrastructure for composting and recycling on each island, under the responsibility of the Local Authorities and not the Regional Bodies.
- Water: Requirement of water scarcity with desalination works and their energy costs by the state.
- Self -government: It is proposed to strengthen island municipalities with responsibilities, staff and resources to actively participate in the management of local affairs.
- Coasting: The party proposes to strengthen combined transport, support small businesses, connecting European funding by securing low ticket prices and expanding it “cold ironing” In the ports.
In the coming period, SYRIZA-PS will specify his proposals through dialogue with local bodies and societies of the islands.
