Israel’s armed forces “they destroyed the main military installations in Syria”unleashing about them 250 aerial bombardments after rebels took control of Damascus and toppled President Bashar al-Assad, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported today.
According to this organization, which is based in Britain and is based on a wide network of sources in Syria, the Israeli air force destroyed airports, radars, warehouses of weapons and ammunition, research centers of the army.
At the same time, it damaged or sank Syrian navy vessels, while also hitting an air defense unit near the major port of Lattakia, in the northwestern part of the country.

Netanyahu: The annexed Golan will remain under Israeli control
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that the occupied and Israeli-annexed part of the Syrian Golan Heights will continue to belong to his country “for eternity”, the day after the fall of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
After earlier reports of extensive IDF strikes on the Syrian port city of Latakia, videos have now emerged showing heavy strikes against Syrian naval infrastructure and assets still in the port. “Today, the whole world understands the capital importance of our presence on the Golan and not at the foot of the Golan,” said Mr. Netanyahu during a press conference he gave in Jerusalem.
The Golan, which overlooks the Galilee Hills and Lake Tiberias in northern Israel, “will remain part of the State of Israel for eternity,” the Israeli government chief said.
Israel’s army captured part of this Syrian plateau in 1967 and repelled a Syrian offensive to retake territory lost during the 1973 Arab-Israeli war.

Israel annexed the Golan in 1981. “Our control of the Golan Heights guarantees our security, guarantees our national sovereignty,” Netanyahu insisted to reporters. “I want to thank my friend, the president-elect (of the US) donald trump, because in response to my request he recognized Israel’s national sovereignty over the Golan Heights in 2019,” he added, referring to the decision taken by the US president-elect today during his first term (2017-2021). This decision contradicts a series of UN decisions, according to which this area remains occupied and its annexation to Israel is illegal, under international law.
On Sunday, Netanyahu announced that he had ordered his army to “take control” of a neutral zone bordering the portion of the occupied and Israeli-annexed Golan. The advance of Israeli troops in this zone is a “violation” of the 1974 disengagement agreement between Israel and Syria, a UN representative pointed out yesterday.
