New alert for drones in Northern Europe: Landvetter International Airport, near Gothenburg Swedenwas forced to suspend all its flights on Thursday (06.11.2025), after the appearance of one or more suspicious drone in its airspace, according to Swedish authorities.
“A drone – or more – has been spotted over Landvetter Airport,” said a spokesman for the Swedish Civil Aviation Authority (LFV) in Sweden, clarifying that the airspace was immediately closed for security reasons.
Swedish police, alerted at around 18:40 (local time), sent teams to the area to gather information and assess the situation. “The airspace over Landvetter remains closed while the investigation continues,” confirmed operations director of Swedavia, the airport’s operating company, Suzanne Norman.
Landvetter, the country’s second largest airport after Arlanda in Stockholm, serves millions of passengers every year and is a strategic hub for the southern part of Sweden.
In recent months, several European airports have faced similar drone incidents, causing temporary disruptions to air traffic. Some European officials attribute these incidents to hybrid warfare operations by Russia, which Moscow strongly denies.
Swedish authorities have not yet released details about the origin or type of drone detected.
