One man was killed and another was injured during shots near mosque in the city of Orembro in Sweden on Friday (15.08.2025). The incident is said to be linked to rivalries between organized crime gangs, police said.
A man “about 25 years old succumbed to his injuries” at the Orembro Hospital in Sweden where he had been decorated after the fire near the mosque, police added in a statement without specifying the situation of the injured person, who is being hospitalized.
Police said the case is being investigated as an attempted murder and that a suspect is being sought, although no immediate arrests have been made.

Sweden is plagued by a wave of violence associated with gangs for more than a decade, and researchers said the latest armed attack could be a similar case.

The perpetrator of the February attack was a former student who also committed suicide and had nothing to do with criminal gangs. The researchers found no clear motivation in this case.
