In the context of informal five -day conference for the CyprusUnder the auspices of UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres, which is being carried out in New York, the heads of the European Union institutions clearly expressed their support for international efforts to restart talks. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of a fair and sustainable solution on the basis of UN Security Council resolutions and EU authorities.
The President of the European Council, Antonio Costaand the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Layenin their posts on the X platform, they said that “the EU remains consistently committed to the reunification of Cyprus, according to UN Security Council resolutions and EU authorities. The EU is ready to fully play its role in the process, “they said.
Von der Layen added, “we are ready to actively contribute and intensify our efforts to support the UN -led process, including through the active involvement of her special envoy, Johannes Han.”
The EU remains steadfastly committed to the reunification of Cyprus, fully in line with UN Security Council resolutions and principles, values and legislation of the EU.
