Since last Monday (30.6.2025), the special application of the Ministry of Education, Religions and Sports for electronics is open applicationsfor interested – beneficiaries of housing For the academic year 2024 – 2025.
Interested parties should visit the special application of the student housing allowance (https://stegastiko.minedu.gov.gr), in order to submit their application electronically.
For their entry into the online application, applicants will use the username and the password granted them by AADE for Taxisnet online services.
Beneficiaries of student housing allowance
The online application for the granting of a housing allowance is submitted by the beneficiary of the allowance, that is, the person who is considered to be borne by the student, in accordance with the provisions of article 11 of Law 4172/2013 (A ‘167).
In the case of spouses who have submitted separate tax returns, he submits the online application for housing allowance, one only parent of the beneficiary of the allowance, who in his tax return must have stated all the children who are charged (dependent members) to form the financial criterion.
In the case of divorced or dimensional spouses, the beneficiary of the allowance is the parent who is borne by the student and displaying him as a protected member.
Exceptionally, the holder will be the student himself as long as:
- is orphaned by both parents or
- His parents are abroad or
- is over 25 years of age or
- He is obliged to submit a tax return and is not considered a dependent member, in accordance with article 11 of Law 4172/2013 (A ‘167).
They are not entitled to housing allowance:
- Those who are studying for a second degree, regardless of the way they are admitted to higher education,
- Those students who have exceeded the duration of the semesters needed to obtain their degree in accordance with the indicative curriculum,
- Those who reside in a student home or are provided with housing from their school.
The amounts per region
The student housing allowance has increased and is shaped as follows:
- 1,500 euros for students with individual lease in Attica and Thessaloniki
- 2,000 euros for students with cohabitation in Attica and Thessaloniki
- 2,000 euros for students with individual lease in the rest of Greece
- 2,500 euros for students with cohabitation in the rest of Greece
Interested students are invited to submit their application in a timely manner and consult the platform’s detailed instructions in order to avoid mistakes that may lead to rejection.
It is clarified that from the academic year 2024 – 2025 the lease should apply to a property located in any municipality within the same Regional Unit whose administrative boundaries is based by the student’s HEI department, in a city another in its main residence. In particular, for the wider area of Thessaloniki, the Thessaloniki Town Planning Complex is considered as a city, including its cities or areas that are less than 20 kilometers from the center of Thessaloniki.
The prefecture of Attica, except for its island areas as well as the cities or areas that are more than 40 kilometers from downtown Athens, is also considered a city. In these cases, the lease should apply to the Thessaloniki or the “city” of Athens respectively.
