Stefanos Kasselakis in Patras: on the side of firefighters and businessmen – “Their voice will reach the House”

In Patras, the President of the Democracy Movement, Stefanos Kasselakis, was found in meetings with the seasonal firefighters and representatives of the Chambers of Achaia. At the heart of the discussions were the impact of recent fires and the need for substantial support.

During his meeting with seasonal firefighters, Mr. Kasselakis was informed of serious deficiencies in equipment, vehicle deficiency, staff depletion and reducing positions.

His firefighters conveyed the problems they encountered on the fiery front:

* Lack of even the most basic means, such as water.
* Fire trucks that take half an hour to fill and empty in fifteen minutes.
* Scenes where only one vehicle was called upon to protect many houses in a settlement at the same time, resulting in families feeling abandoned.
* Exhaustion of the firefighters themselves, who were attempting without sufficient relaxation and incomplete equipment.

At the same time, they denounced the unacceptable attitude of the state:

* Of the 100 positions in 2024, this year remained only 60. That is, at a time when fires are increasing and the climate crisis exacerbates the dangers, the government chooses to reduce the human resources that gives the battle to the forefront.
* In the summer they call them “heroes”, but in the winter they hit them with the MATs when they seek permanent, decent working conditions and their obvious rights. This hypocrisy honors neither the state nor society.
* The promises given each year remain blank letter. Seasonal firefighters hear words of sympathy and support commitments, but in practice they return to insecurity, without stable work, without sufficient equipment and no support.

Stefanos Kasselakis, accompanied by Vice President Theodora Tzakri and Myrto Korovesis, stressed that the government of Kyriakos Mitsotakis deprecates those who are sacrificed daily to protect lives and property. “It is not possible to applaud the firefighters for the photos and abandoned the next day without means, without staff, without rights,” he said.

He then met with the Presidents of the Chambers of Achaia and the Economic Chamber of Western Greece. While presenting his party’s proposals to strengthen entrepreneurship, he stressed that his primary intention was to listen to the real needs of the local community.

The president of the Republic of the Republic has pledged that the voice of the locals and professionals in the area would arrive in the House, and he also granted S.Ionian TV on the low -flight show with the focus of the recent fires in West Achaia and Patras.
