In a statement of support to the Mayor of Constantinople Ekrem Imamoglou, the mayor of Athens made Harry Doukas, which he also notified in his personal account in X. He begins with the phrase “Dude Eprem, we are next to you” and then Mr. Doukas states:
“We are concerned about the developments in Constantinople and the arrest of Mayor Ekrem Iimoglu and his 100 associates. Erdogan’s main opponent, elected by 54% of Constantinople’s citizens are in custody, accused of heavy offenses. It is the latest episode, a series of persecutions that have been brought against friend Ekrem, with the last to cancel his university degree, which excluded him from the race to claim the Turkish presidency. The arrest of elected mayor and replacement by appointed is a serious blow against democracy. “
