OR National basketball faces Spain in the last game of the two teams for the group phase Eurobasketwith the two teams having met another 15 times in the past.
Of these games, Spain counts more wins than national basketball, as Iberians have a 14-4 record in Eurobasket matches only! Overall, the score is 31-14 in favor of the “Rochas” who is Greece’s “bad demon” in the big tournaments.
The most recent meeting of the two countries in 2015 in the Eurobasket event in Lille, France, Spain won 73-71 and qualified for the semifinals of the competition, in a game that 17-year-old Yiannis Antetokounbos had 21 points and 17 rebounds! Indeed, in that game, the current coach of the “blue -white” Vasilis Spanoulis was a player of our representative band in one of his latest games.
It is worth noting that our country’s last victory over the Spaniards dates back to 2013, 12 years back, when in Ljubljana the “blue-white” won 79-75, but the defeat that followed against Slovenia had left the national team out of the knockout.
