According to Spanish reports, the Civil Protection Service had been informed of two vessels with irregular immigrants off the coast of Andalusia and 26 people were found and collected during the investigation.

It is recalled that Spain, and in particular the Canary Islands, is an important point of entry for African immigrants and asylum seekers entering the European Union.

Although the influx of arrivals has been reduced compared to last year’s peak, nearly 24,000 immigrants have entered Spain so far this year, declining by a third compared to the same period in 2024.
