6 -year -old Joslin Smith disappeared from her home in the small town of Middelos in the Saldanan Gulf in the West Cape province of South Africa on February 19, 2024 and has since begun a nationwide study to identify it. Joslin’s mother, Kelly Smith, her friend Yaken Apolis and their friend Steveno Van Rin were charged with selling the child for a fee.
One of the witnesses told the court that Smith had sold her little girl to a pseudo -or traditional therapist for 20,000 rand ($ 1,100) and that The girl was crazy about her “eyes and skin”.
“Mrs Smith’s behavior is not the behavior of a parent who cares. And why isn’t it? In my opinion, the only conclusion is that you knew (what happened), “said Judge Nathan Erasmus, addressing Smith, who was in the courtroom without speaking at all.
The judge did not mention in his decision to whom the girl was sold or why.
The three convicts will be detained before the imposition of their sentence.
