What started as a carefree snapshot was turned into an epic blunder: Michelle Sky, influencer by the South Africashe uploaded a video in which we see her dipped in a sea full of white foam, on a beach near Cape Town. Smiling, he says to the camera: “I’m having a good time that I don’t even feel the cold.”
Everything changes when a user comments: “I hope he knows that this foam comes from a drainage conductor nearby …”. In the same video, some water appears to enter the mouth of the Influencer from South Africa. Her reaction, somewhere between humor and ignorance: “It’s salty”.
And then the video gets a surrealistic turn. Michelle appears dry, shocked, while comments pass the smile that freeze the smile: “This is water from sewers!”, “This foam is feces”, “It’s not a sea, it’s a drainage system!” With open eyes and hand in the mouth, it approaches the camera visibly troubled. The caption leaves no room: “I’m afraid I made a terrible mistake.”
The video went viral and caused division. Some faced it loosely: “It’s just a sea foam, it happens …”, while others reacted: “If it were sewage, he would have understood it!”
Marine biomass or urban sewage? No one can say with confidence. But the embarrassing moment remained – along with the question: how much do we really know about the quality of the water where we swim? For the time being, Michelle’s video is already a candidate for the FAIL of the year.
