At the event “National Strategy for Regional Development – Thessaloniki Projects»Held at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, with the keynote speaker by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, was spoken by the Minister of Education, Religions and Sports, Mr. Sofia Zacharakis.
In her placement, the minister warmly thanked education executives, directors, teachers and support staff who – as he stressed – “make the noticeable difference in the classroom every day, fighting for our children.”
Ms Zacharaki referred to the recent permanent recruitmentpointing out:
“During the summer there were 10,000 new appointments, raising the total number of permanent appointments from 2019 to more than 48,000. Particular emphasis was placed on primary education and special education, with the recruitment of psychologists and social workers. “
Specifically for Thessaloniki he noted: “In Thessaloniki this year we have 238 new permanent teachers. 75 In Primary 163 in Secondary, “the Minister noted, adding:” We have many appointments since 2019 both in western and eastern Thessaloniki, 29 in Primary, 123 in the secondary of the East, 236 appointments in Primary, 490 in the Second. “
At the same time, he referred to enhancing the digital dimension of learning:
“Thousands of interactive tables and robotics sets are already in schools, and more than 150,000 teachers will be trained nationwide for the use of new technological tools and developing new teaching subjects.”
In the field of infrastructure, the minister highlighted the Marietta Giannakou program, which in Thessaloniki renovates 45 schools – which 20 in the east and 25 western – with interventions involving energy upgrading, accessibility and renovation of sports and toilets.
“Our goal is for every child to attend a bright, safe and contemporary school environment who honors his own teacher and work. An environment that leaves no one behind, “he said.
In closing, Ms Zacharakis emphasized that, despite demographic challenges and demanding conditions, the ministry continues to strengthen human resources, investing in digital education and upgrading infrastructure:
“Education is the biggest investment for the future of our country. Every step we take is aimed at ensuring equal opportunities for all children, in every corner of Greece. “
