The installation of ‘Smart cameras’ on the streets of Attica started, inaugurating a new era in road surveillance and safety. The first 41 cameras are already working on 17 municipalities of the basin, while up to the 2026 Their number is expected to exceed the 500.
These cameras have the ability to record on a 24 -hour basis and to identify Violations of the new Road Traffic Code (COC) with automated waywithout human intervention.
What do new cameras see

Photos and videos are sent electronically at the infringement management centerwhere special software processes the data and confirms the infringement.
Immediately afterwards, the fine is sent to the owner of the vehicle either by mail either Through the Gov.gr platform.
If the owner was not driving
In case the vehicle the owner was not drivingthere is now the possibility Electronic Declaration of the Real Driverso that the fine is transferred to the right person.
