Speaking to industry representatives yesterday by the European Union of Aerospace and Defense Industries yesterday, the button said that initial events of interest from EU countries should be submitted in July, followed by a “definitive request” by November.
The European Commission’s final decisions should be taken within two months of receipt of applications, according to the final text of the SAFE Agreement approved this week and reported by Euractiv. Specifically, this means that cash will reach the countries concerned by autumn or winter, a record time for any EU defense industry program.
The committee first presented the idea of a loan in March. This timetable could still be overthrown by the European Parliament’s threats to sue the Council for the decision to bypass Parliament during the program negotiations.
