Archbishop Damianos announced in a statement that he resigned on Friday, September 12th. In the same announcement he described the timetable for his succession, inviting the Fathers of Sinai Monastery to a General Assembly on Sunday, September 14, at 11:00 in the Monastery, with the sole issue of the election of abbot and Archbishop Sinai, Faran and Raito.
He states that he removes the monks and deletions of the monks who had moved against him so that everyone could participate in the General Assembly.
Archbishop Damianos notes that, as his state of health does not allow his physical presence in the Monastery, the presidency of the General Assembly will be exercised by anyone who elected members of the Sinai Brotherhood will be present.
The Archbishop announced that he was withdrawing to live the last days of his life in Greece, in the Sinai Monastery apartment in Metochi, Athens and Tragana.
