The new instructions of Britain’s national health system have caused the new guidelines that positively see the wedding between cousin First degree, in order not to stigmatize minorities that are used to it.
According to the categories, its national health system Britain (NHS) “succumbs to political correctness”, as new instructions have a positive marriage between the first cousins - although this practice increases the risk of genetic diseases and is often socially linked to the oppression of women.
Instructions state that cousin weddings can offer “stronger family support” and “financial benefits”, while it is noted that the measure is legal in Britain since the 16th century, when Henry VI changed the law to marry Anna Bolen’s cousin.
This practice is particularly common in British communities and has been linked to higher percentages of diseases such as cystic fibrosis and sickle cell anemia.
Evidence shows that in cities such as Sheffield, Glasgow and Birmingham, up to 20% of children with congenital problems are of Pakistani, compared to about 4% in the general population with the cost of NHS is calculated in billions of pounds.
According to the instructions, the risk of the birth of a child with a genetic problem is about 2-3% in the general population and increases to 4-6% in the children of the first cousins. As stated, “the majority of these children are healthy”. The NHS points out that the prohibition of practice will “stigmatize specific communities” and proposes genetic counseling and information campaigns instead.
The reactions, however, are intense as many believe it is another result of woke culture. Conservative MP Richard Holden said his party would promote ban legislation, arguing that “weddings are harming health, women’s rights and social cohesion.”
Dr. Patrick Nas, a specialist in religious law and director of the Pharos Foundation Institute in Oxford, described the NHS as “frustrating” to highlight social benefits without mentioning the risks associated with price violence, gender discrimination and high costs for taxpayers. “Wedding cousins is essentially incest and must be prohibited immediately,” he told the Daily Mail.
Yougov poll showed that three out of four Britons support the ban, while only 9% want the law to remain as it is.
The NHS, however, notes that cousin weddings have a long tradition in many cultures.
