At least 11 people were killed and dozens others were injured by explosion to factory in the area of Russia Outside Moscow, Russian authorities announced Saturday (16/8/2025).
According to Russian government officials, the explosion took place on Friday (15/8/2025) at a factory in the Riazan region of Russia, while the media said it was a gun factory.
Riazan District Governor Pavel Malkov said the incident was caused by a fire that broke out within a
factory workshop.
Emergency Russian services said they were working nonstop to repair damage.
“Unfortunately, 11 people were killed,” the ministry of emergencies said on social networks, adding that 130 people were injured by the explosion.
According to independent means, the explosion occurred at the Elastik plant, which produces gunpowder and ammunition.
It is recalled that in 2021 there was an explosion in the same factory that had killed 17 people.
The local authorities of Riazan have declared mourning day: “Flags will wave mid -range throughout the area,” Riazan Governor Pavel Malkov wrote in Telegram.
