THE Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, from TIF, announced the new government’s initiative to exploit inactive property of the Greek State for the benefit of society. The beginning is with three camps where they are to be erected 2,000 apartmentsof which 75% will be allocated to citizens without first residencewhile the rest 25% will meet housing needs of the Armed Forces executives.
As the Prime Minister said:
“We are launching an innovative way of utilizing public real estate in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense. In three camps – in Moschato, in Ziaka here in Thessaloniki and Manousogiannakis in Patras – 2,000 apartments will be erected, on the initiative of the Armed Forces. 25% will house military executives and our 75% of our fellow citizens without first residence. This action will be expanded, with the aim of exploiting many unused public real estate. “
The three camps utilized:
1. Camp Karaiskaki – Chaidari, Attica
- Area: about 145 acres
- Construction: 58 bands with 12 apartments each
- Set of apartments: 696
2. Camp Ziaka-Kordelio-Evosmos, Thessaloniki
- Area: about 128 acres
- Construction: 50 bands with 12 apartments each
- Set of apartments: 600
3. Camp Manousogiannakis – Patras
- Area: about 150 acres
- Construction: 60 bands with 12 apartments each
- Set of apartments: 720
This new housing initiative is part of the government policy on social utilization of public propertyin order to Enhance accessibility to the residenceespecially for those who lack privately owned roof.
