Reveal: These are Opel’s new engines

By 2016, Opel’s engine range will be 80% renewed, launching 13 new sets. The beginning is made by the new 1.6 turbo, petrol and diesel, while towards the end of the year the 3-cylinder petrol will be presented, for models such as Adam and Corsa.

As we informed you since March 24, the new 1.6 SIDI gasoline engine will be released in addition to 170 PS and with 200 PS. The first version is called Eco Turbo, it is designed with an emphasis on economy and premieres on the new Cascada (on Sunday with the FIRST THEME the first driving acquaintance).

The Performance Turbo therefore shows increased power to 200 PS, while the maximum torque rises from 28.5 to 30.6 kgm (appears from 1,750 to 4,700 rpm). It will equip models with a sporty character, such as the Astra GTC and the next Corsa OPC. Of great interest is the new 1.6 CDTI, which has a variable geometry turbo (VGT). It produces 136 PS and 32.6 kgm at 2,000 rpm, replacing the “brutal” 1.7 diesel as well as the less powerful versions of the 2-liter engine.
