At the Frankfurt show in the fall of 2013, the next generation of MINI is scheduled to premiere. The important news, apart from the common platform with the front-wheel drive BMWs, concerns the launch of a 1.5 3-cylinder engine, both for the base version One and for the immediately more powerful Cooper.
It will replace the well-known 1.6 and deliver – respectively – close to 100 and 130 PS. The more powerful versions, Cooper S and John Cooper Works, will still use four-cylinder units.
