The 2024 European elections were a turning point for the new crisis that permeates the parties of government in Greece. Public Issue which made a new nationwide quantitative internet surveyin a sample of 1,200 people, aged 17 years or older, March 2025.
The results of the survey shows that citizens’ frustration over the rulers who have ruled continues to deepen with 53% of respondents to express the view that New Democracy, PASOK and SYRIZA “It is the same” compared to 32% who consider that they “rather disagree” and 13% who believe they “neither agree nor disagree.”
The data of the survey is declining the popularity of the New Democracy, as well as the other two parties that have ruled over the last 20 years.
The public image of the New Democracy, according to the Public Issue, is in a slightly better position than it had in 2015 as 68% believe it today is in the wrong direction compared to 74% in 2015.
PASOK’s public image remains at very low levels. 7 out of 10 citizens believe they are moving in the wrong direction, a view that shared 42% of his voters in the 2023 parliamentary elections.
As for SYRIZA, it is noted that the party’s crisis is continuing. After 5 breaks in 10 years: LAE, Freedom, Day25, New Left, Democracy Movement, today’s SYRIZA public image is at the worst of the last 10 years with 76% declaring that it is moving in the wrong direction and only 5% claiming to be in the right direction.
Concerning the political leaders of the three parties who have ruled the country for the last 20 years, the positive opinion on Kyriakos Mitsotakis is at 29%, for Nikos Androulakis at 15%and for Socrates Famello at 24%.
As noted, the percentage of the current leader of the New Democracy (29%) has approached the historical minimum of the party (28%), recorded by A. Samaras in May 2012.
Socrates Famellos loses in popularity by all the previous leaders of the Coalition – SYRIZA, except for Stefanos Kasselakis, while Nikos Androulakis has the second highest of negative opinions (79) after George Papandreou in December 2012 (89).
