Reduction of direct taxes will be announced by Mitsotakis at TIF

The announcement to reduce immediate taxes in TIF The Vice President of the Government pointed out today (25.8.2025) in an interview with Kostis Hatzidakis to SKAI.

At the TIF “we will announce a reduction in direct taxes that will relieve citizens’ pockets,” Kostis Hatzidakis said. Reductions will be more concerned with natural persons and in particular the middle class. “There can be no 13th and 14th salaries and 13th and 14th pension, because if we do so abruptly this is 8 billion,” he said.

Regarding the change in electoral law, Mr Hatzidakis commented that there were statements by the Prime Minister and that he is not in the government’s intentions.

“As the prime minister has told me, elections will be held in the spring of 2027 with the current electoral law,” concluded Kostis Hatzidakis.

Asked if he sees with interest that Alexis Tsipras’ return to active politics, Kostis Hatzidakis replied that “there is an interest, but not great, as I do not see big political upheavals.”

“If it is a party, there will be developments in the center -left,” he added, noting that the current opposition is not doing good in the country or in the New Democracy.

He then referred to 25 different medium and large reforms that will run in the second half of 2025. “One reform per week,” he noted.

In addition, he said there is a dysfunction, not only in Greece but not in Europe. There is accuracy but at the same time noted the positive reduction of unemployment, tourism, digitization and tax evasion.
