The oil noted jumping after a CNN report, according to which new US information shows that the Israel Prepares for a possible blow to Iran’s nuclear facilities.
Brent crude oil increased over $ 66 a barrel, while the American Slow West Texas Intermedia (WTI) jumped up to 3.5% before it limited its profits. It was not clear that Israeli leaders had made a final decision on whether to carry out the blows, CNN said, citing anonymous officials.
Oil has been volatile since last week due to mixed headlines over the fate of Iran – US nuclear talks, which could pave the way for more barrels to return to a market that is expected to be over -supply later in the year.
An attack by Israel would prevent any progress in these negotiations and add up turmoil in the Middle East, which supplies about 1/3 of the world crude.
The CNN report also briefly prompted traditional investment shelters, such as the Swiss franc and the Japanese gene, at higher levels, before this move is reduced. The US Department of Defense and the National Security Council did not immediately respond to commentary requests. The Israeli Embassy in Washington refused to comment.
Israel has long weighted the targeting of the Iranian nuclear program. Geopolitical concerns have currently overshadowed expectations for relaxed balances in the second half of the year, as OPEC and his allies are bringing barrels to the market. The production of shale oil in the US has not peaked and can still be expanded, but not if prices are close to $ 50 a barrel, CEOocophillips said Tuesday (20.5.2025).
