OR Women’s National Volleyball She did her job over Puerto Rico, beating a 3-1 set and keeping the dream of qualifying for the U19 World Championships in Thailand. With calm, character and clear superiority in three of the four sets, Apostolos Economou’s team achieved a key victory and now turns its eyes to the decisive match against France on Tuesday, August 26 (12:00 Greece).
The match was held at the Chiang Mai International Exhibition & Convention Center and was the most crucial game for Greek volleyball in the group stage. Ethniki entered the first set with 19-25, continuing at the same pace and the second with the impressive 13-25. Puerto Rico reacted temporarily by reducing to 1-2 (25-23), but our internationals left no room for overthrow and “cleaned” the fourth set with 14-25.
Greece is now in a qualifying trajectory and will claim the ticket for the world’s top 16 teams in the Group’s final against France, with the backdrop of second place leading to the next phase. There, the Greek team will cross the first of the 6th group, where the Dominican Republic, China, Mexico and Colombia are located.
