A law proposal “to protect free competition and fight profitability” was filed by the six independent MPs – members of its members. Movement of democracywith the aim of “relieving the consumer” and ending the “King Cartel”.
According to a statement by MPs Theodora Tzakri, Al. Avlonitis, Sunday Malama, Yiotas Poulou, Mich. Hourdaki and Rallias Christidou, the main pillars of the proposal are:
-The EAEA Business Category (Enterprises of Influence on the Market): We introduce a special category for companies that jointly control 80% of the market, with the obligation of special training for their executives. The breach of the legislation will now have a name.
-Surable penalties: We establish a minimum three -year prison sentence for executives involved in market manipulation. Anyone who chooses to set up a cartel will necessarily be brought to prison.
-Lelectronic Register of offenders: Those companies that violate the provisions are excluded from public supplies for two years, and for five in case of relapse.
-Finally in the “laundry” of the dispute arrangement: The process of settlement of disputes in the Competition Committee ceases to be a tool of “rinsing” illegal practices.
-Concending of illegal earnings: The illegal profits of companies that violate competition rules are seized as criminal activity.
-About Managing Executives: Managers who violate competition rules are excluded from managerial positions for many years.
-‘IMPORTANT EXECUTION OF THE Competition Committee: There is an immediate recruitment of about 100 executives through ASEP to meet the needs of the Commission.
-Dered participation in the President’s selection: In addition to the House, the chairman of the Competition Committee also participates, in addition to the House, representatives of employees, businesses and consumers.
-Explaining of powers: The Competition Committee is also responsible for the telecommunications sector, as already in force.
-Criminal proceedings: The court stamp is abolished in lawsuits against companies violating competition and all relevant files are treated as urgent.
‘Immediate relief for consumer
“Implementing the proposal of the Democracy Movement means the immediate end of the cartels, a significant decline in prices in basic consumer supplies and services, an increase in the competitiveness of small businesses, and above all, a relief for the consumer, especially for medium and low incomes,” the Members of the Republic said.
At the same time, in their statement they point out that “while uncontrollable accuracy is affecting households, the government chooses to bypass the competition principle and create a new, parallel principle, adding bureaucracy instead of solutions. The Cartel Prime Minister announced the establishment of “a very powerful National Market Supervision Authority” !!! After six years of governance, after six years of looting from the cartels, Mr. Mitsotakis discovered that the supervisory state’s supervisory mechanism is useless and starts again with vague promises. The Democracy Movement stresses that the basic principle of any advanced state is the free competition that provides low prices. But when accuracy is galloping, it means that competition is absent. “
According to the “six”, “the image presented by the government is alarming. When the Democracy Movement asked about the under-staffing of the Competition Committee, with only 40% of the planned seats, the answer was a delayed 50-seat call for 12-18 months. In the question about the “factory” of the dispute arrangement, which gives cartel immunity, the answer was literally non -existent.
It is now clear: the government, in every possible way, seems to protect the cartels. The lenient legislative framework and the deliberate under -staffing of the Competition Committee allow the cartels to plunder the pocket of Greek consumers, “said six members of the Republic Movement.
