The President of the European Commission Ursula von der Layen He will be confronted with a proposal to censure far -right MEPs on July 10 in the European Parliament, with almost zero chances of success.
The heads of Parliament found on Wednesday night (2/7/25) that the proposal had received the minimum number of 72 signatures required to be examined in Parliament and set the timetable.
MEPs will discuss this proposal next Monday in Strasbourg and then decide during a vote on Thursday.
Romanian MEP Georgue Popea, who had the initiative to propose a censure, denounces the lack of transparency of Ursula von der Laien about the short messages exchanged with Pfizer’s CEO of Pfizer, vaccines.
The case has caused complaints from various organizations and personalities opposed to the vaccines, as well as the New York Times, which tried to access messages without access.
Pipea also accuses the European Commission of “mixing” the presidential election in Romania.
Nationalist candidate Jorman Simon was defeated in May by European Nicusor Dan. Simon then tried, in vain, to appeal to Romania’s constitutional court, citing “external mixing” from France and Moldova.
The chances of overturning the committee under von der Laien in the European Parliament are almost zero.
The political group of European Conservatives and Reformers (ECRs) to which Pipea belongs has already taken distances from this motion of censure.
“It’s not an initiative of our team,” an ECR spokesman, headquartered by MPs of the Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who are more alternative to von der Laen.
To succeed, should the censure sentence gather two -thirds of the votes and the absolute majority of parliament members, that is, at least 361 Members.
This scenario has never happened to date, except for a special case in 1999: before the vote, the Commission, under the presidency of Luxembourg Jacques Sander, resigned a conviction for her “serious responsibility” in fraud.
Within the “pro -European” majority, the debate could, however, allow the Social Democrats and the Centers to criticize the omnipotence of the Right in Strasbourg as well as Brussels after the June 2024 election.
