Over 200 tons of livestock of waste have been buried near the Louro River in I predictedcausing massive environmental pollution, a case for which three people, aged 28, 46 and 64, have been arrested, while 12 more people have been identified.
Last Friday they arrived in Philippiada, 8 trucks from Corfu and unloaded the waste at an incineration plant. These are animal remains that were transported to the area of Preveza after a fire that broke out in a store with frozen products.
The waste consisted of meat, fish, packaged food of animal origin, plastic and other materials were inside the store that was completely burned. All were discarded and buried in the company’s forecourt, without any licensing or compliance with environmental rules, according to ERT.
The site is located next to the Louro River and is now under constant police surveillance and complete blockade.
The illegal transport of waste was brought to the public by ERT, through an exclusive video in which excavators are seen opening the trenches and burying fish, chickens and rotten meat inside.
After investigations by the authorities, the police found that the arrested had tried to hide access to the place where they dumped the waste using machinery, metal barriers and two trucks.
