Completed by the Group PPC the construction of another wind farm, with an installed capacity of 36 MW, in the Karkaros location of the Municipal Units of Antikyra and Desfina in Central Greece.
The installed power of the park amounts to 36 MW, from seven wind turbines, manufactured by Siemens Gamesa, type SG145. The interconnection of the station with the electricity system will be ensured through a new 33/150 kV voltage raising substation. The wind farm is expected to be fully operational in 2026.
The region’s rich wind potential, combined with the selection of advanced technology wind turbines, ensures the production of 82.5 GWh of electricity per year. This energy can meet the needs of almost 20,000 households, while preventing the emission of approximately 41,250 tons of CO2.
In parallel with this project, PPC Renewables, a 100% subsidiary of PPC Group, continues the construction of three more wind farms in Rodopi, Fokida and Arcadia with a total capacity of approximately 100MW.
A few days ago, PPC Group also announced the start of work on the second construction phase of the Deleni wind farm in Vaslui County, the largest wind project in Northeast Romania. The park’s capacity will be increased by an additional 85 MW, with the construction of 14 new wind turbines of 6.1 MW each, adding to the 140 MW of the first phase, which is already under construction.
The development of wind farms is of strategic importance for PPC Group and contributes decisively to the stability of the system, given that wind energy can be produced at all hours of the day and night, as long as the wind is blowing.
The construction of the new wind farm is another step in the PPC Group’s RES development, both organically and through partnerships, in Greece and Southeast Europe, contributing decisively to the achievement of the PPC Group’s goal of renewable energy projects with a total capacity of 11.8 GW by 2027.
