Upon completion of the participatory voting process by its members, The Statute of the Republic Movement came into force And it is now posted on the official website of the movement.
According to party sources, it is a constitutional innovative, directly democratic and purely digital – the first of its kind in the Greek political scene – which establishes institutions of equality, transparency and substantial participation of citizens.
Key points of the new statute
- The party’s president appoints only the head of the State ballot. All other nominations arise through open qualifiers.
- A ceiling of three terms for each elected office is established.
- It is incompatible between a paid relationship with the party and the election to any intra -party body.
- The National Council, as the upper body of the party, is equivalently constituted by 50% by representatives of the regions and 50% by representatives of the thematic sectors – an innovative composition that enhances both decentralization and the production of political work.
- A complete transparency in finance is established, as the Department of Financial Management is obliged to publish in detail the revenue and expenses of the party every quarter.
“The Democracy Movement, faithful to the principles of open participation and accountability, establishes a new way of organizing, functioning and political expression. Democracy returns to citizens – and this is recorded by the first page of the Articles of Association.”

“Go ahead”
In a message to the members of the Democracy Movement, the President of the Movement, Stefanos Kasselakis, expressed his gratitude for their active involvement in the co -ordination of his statutes. As he said, the Democracy Movement is pioneering at a pan -European level, applying a participatory and direct -democratic model of operation, in which even the State ballot will be formed by the members themselves.
The movement is now entering a new phase of internal organization and extroversion, with basic landmarks being the elections of the institutions and the founding conference to be held in May, as well as the proposed accession to the European Democratic Party (EDP).
1. Organ elections – April 25 to 27
As noted in the President’s message, the Democracy Movement has already formed a modern, flexible and multi -dimensional party mechanism that can develop and communicate its policies throughout the territory and the community.
The elections to highlight the first instruments of the movement will be held digitally, through the official website, on April 25-27. Those interested in being candidates will have the opportunity to publicly present their candidacy, both online and in the municipal organizations of the movement. In the coming days, a circular will be sent with detailed instructions.
The movement has already foreseen special support through volunteers for those members need help in the electoral process.
2. Founding Conference – May 2025, Athens
The founding conference of the movement will take place in May in Athens, with the aim of presenting a comprehensive government program. The program will be based on nationwide consultations and will cover the whole territory and homogeneity.
All members will be able to participate as delegates. The conference is expected to be a top political moment, which will seal the country’s entry into a new transition.
At the same time, the work of the themes of the movement continues, with particular emphasis on health and education in April, to determine the large incisions required for a universally accessible, public and quality social state.
3. European Cooperation – Proposal for joining the European Democratic Party
In his message, Stefanos Kasselakis also announced that he proposes the integration of the Democracy Movement into the European Democratic Party (EDP) – a party with their founders Francois Bairou and Romano Prodi, who shares common goals and values with the movement, such as the Democratic Democratic,
The proposal does not imply political positions without prior democratic legitimacy, nor integration into Euro -groups such as Renew Europe. On the contrary, any future cooperation in the European Parliament will be decided through members’ binding votes.
The relevant vote for joining the ECB will take place on April 8 and 9.
Finally, it was announced that on April 11-12, a mission of MEPs will visit Greece. The program includes a visit to the point of the Tempe tragedy and meetings with victims’ families as part of an effort to internationalize the demand for justice.
“The Democracy Movement is not a protest party, nor a continuation of old formations. It is a new, radically different venture, with autonomous course and meaningful alliances.”
According to Stefanos Kasselakis, “our presence in Europe is not a luxury – there is a need. And this cooperation is the beginning of the democracy to acquire a strong, autonomous and clear voice where the decisions of the future are made.”
