Without definitive results yesterday (22.9.2025) a meeting of Greek representatives industry with the government on energy costs.
A delegation of the Association of Greek Industries (BSE) under President Spyros Theodoropoulos discussed this major issue with the Deputy Prime Minister, Kostis Hatzidakis and the Ministers Chaf. BSE presented his proposal for energy costs, based on the corresponding model applied by Italy.
In the case of the link as requests, the industries will receive support for a period of three years in the form of the cheapest electricity for quantities reaching 7.4 TWH per year. This will enhance their competitiveness to bring closer to the levels of third -country industries that enjoy cheaper costs.
Subsequently, the domestic industries will be obliged to invest in renewable energy and return the twice -reimbursement of twenty years. It is, in short, for a kind of loan at an “energy” interest rate.
According to a study conducted by Grant Thornton, the number of beneficial industries is estimated at 60, and through the measure it is estimated that 1.3 GW of new RES units will be installed, thus facilitating the country’s green targets.
The government now has the above data in order to study how the measure could be funded, with estimates referring to a cost of about 200m euros for each year of power.
Kostis Hatzidakis acknowledged at yesterday’s meeting that there was an intention of supporting support. However, other contacts will follow until the solution that the government will choose is finalized.
Naturally, the relevant ministries are called upon to consider in addition to the mechanism itself, and possible interactions throughout the energy market and the economy in general, in the midst of specific fiscal capabilities.
